Iloilo’s very own Produkto Lokal, a movement to promote and develop local businesses and link them to the grassroots of Panay, made it to the national finals of the annual search for the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO). The award ceremony was held at AG New World on February 22, 2018.
Produkto Lokal received its first Toym Imao Sculptured Trophy which was presented by VIPs including former Commissioner Jose Sixto “Dingdong” Dantes III, National Youth Commission (NYC) Chair Cariza “Aiza,” and Senator Bam Aquino.
Produkto Lokal also received the very special Georgina Nava Plaque. The award is a commemoration of the life of Ms. Georgina Nava, who dedicated her youth to nation building. She was a former commissioner of NYC and one of the founders of TAYO. Unfortunately, she was suddenly taken away by cancer.
Now on its 15th year, TAYO, aims not just to honor, but also to bring together youth organizations across the country and unite them towards a common goal: involving the youth in nation building.
The TAYO week is a 6-day event where representatives from 20 youth organizations across the country undergo various activities such as outdoor teambuilding, organizational development workshops, field trips, media briefing, and many others.
On February 19, 2018, the second day of the TAYO week, the representatives presented their projects in the senate where Chair Seguerra served as the chief judge. The finals gave delegates opportunities to meet government representatives and corporate sponsors and pitch their ideas.
The TAYO Week is organized by TAYO Foundation together with Coca Cola Foundation, and San Miguel Corporation. The co-presentors are NYC, Office of Senator Bam Aquino, and Office of Senator Francis Pangilinan.
Other finalists from Iloilo include CPU Republic and University of San Agustin’s Fine Arts Major Organization.
